Avis Van Rental staff tries harder for you

Continuing education for employees through the Avis Van Rental Eastern Cape skills development programme empowers staff, helps to retain strong employees and ensures a strong organisation.

This is according to Chereece Arend, who worked her way into the position of Regional Operational Manager of Avis Van Rental Eastern Cape.  “A company is only as good as its team,” she said.

Avis Van Rental is committed to their employees through skills development programmes, such as the New Hire course and the Customer Service Certificate which is provided to all staff from when they first arrive the help them settle in with the basics.  But making an investment in an employee’s career path ensures promising individuals are recognized, trained and promoted internally – and that valuable staff members are retained.

Avis works harder for the Eastern Cape

We fully support the eradication of poverty and the rebuilding of this country and through our partnership with Ditikeni our growth will in future years be contributing to the financial sustainability of those communities that need it most.

“We are an Eastern Cape business, so we want to do what we can to assist the community.  There is a lot of need in the Eastern Cape and many of our staff comes from rural areas, so it is important to our employees that we help our neighbourhood.”  Louis du Toit, Managing Director, Avis Van Rental Eastern Cape

“One-to-One Project”

The local “One-to-One” project, sponsored by Avis Van Rental Eastern Cape, teamed up mentally and physically disabled children with able-bodied children for a day of fun, games and the chance to win a variety of prizes.  The special event was held at the Merryvale School for the Disabled, and more than 140 children attended the event.

“Avis Van Rental made a world of difference to this event – we were able to hire all sorts of entertainment, including a band, which the children loved dancing to,” said Rose du Toit, President of the St Croix Lions Club in Port Elizabeth.

Soccer Tournament

A group of Under 13 boys were given the opportunity to emulate some of their favourite soccer stars when Avis Van Rental Eastern Cape sponsored 30 soccer kits, including kit bags, for two school teams in East London.  The boys were ecstatic with their new kits and tried out the new gear at the one-day tournament which was held at the East London North End Soccer Stadium.

Soccer Fever in George

The George Business Chamber recently launched a project to provide local schools with soccer balls and has been very successful.  25 schools will receive 8 balls each.  Avis Van Rental George sponsored the bakkie to assist with the delivery to the schools.

Here balls were delivered to Geelhoutboom, pictured left to right: Mr. Keith Fortuin (Headmaster – Primêre Skool Geelhoutboom VGK), Dylan Jantjies, Ricardo Dick, Lionel Carelse, Bradley Whites, Ruduwaan Prins, Juwayne Sass, Godfrey Smar and Heinrich Crowley.
