About Van Rental
The History of Avis Van Rental in South Africa
From humble beginnings in 1998 with a fleet of only 15, the first Avis Van Rental office opened it's doors in Cape Town. Soon thereafter commenced a gradual and controlled network expansion programme, with additional offices opening in Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
Expanding the network
Encouraged by the significant success of this business initiative, the operation was identified as a growth opportunity for the Avis group and a more aggressive growth strategy was implemented - resulting in the opening of 9 new offices around the country in the first half of 2002.
In addition to the original 4 flagship offices, the national network now includes locations in Sandton, Roodepoort, Kempton Park and Pretoria in Gauteng and Vereeniging looks after the Vaal area. Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Bellville and Paarl complete the Western Cape foursome while our Worcester branch services the Breede Rivier and Overberg areas. Richard's Bay, Ballito and Pietermaritzburg, Pinetown, Mobeni, Rossburgh, Port Sheptone, Kokstad and Ladysmith services Kwazulu Natal. Bloemfontein covers the Freestate with Kimberley in the Northern Cape while Nelspruit, Witbank and Secunda comprise the Mpumalanga network. The Eastern Cape branches are Port Elizabeth, East London, Queenstown, Umtata and George. Currently Rustenburg branch is the only branch in the North West.
Our Mission
The Avis Van Rental mission statement, like that of Avis, is to continually exceed customers' expectations at every interface.

Recognising the importance of our employees in achieving our stated goals, our internal training programmes ensure that every employee understands that the well known "we try harder" Avis culture, instilled in Avis world-wide, a unique and powerful service ethic long before customer satisfaction was a recognised forerunner to business success.
Being one of the world's ten most famous advertising campaigns of all time, the Avis commitment to continued improvement has also been embraced by this new member of the group.
